PW50 carb leaking fuel

My little brother has a 1989 PW50 we have been working on for a while. It has a new piston/head and a few days ago after i got done cleaning the carb out, it ran great (finally) but it was leaking fuel out of the carb badly. I think i might have broke the tip off the needle valve and thats what i.. The petcock will be vacuum operated and if it has a leak, (on carb models), fuel flow will be affected. Also, the tank vent if blocked will affect fuel flow. Remove the fuel line from the carb, put end into a fuel safe container to stop fuel pouring all over the place generating a fire hazard, apply suction to the vacuum pipe on the rear of the. Also your float level is possibly too high and that will not only cause a fuel leak but also could effect the jetting performance. Another thing to check is your choke mechanism and make sure it is moving and working properly. There is not an air adjustment screw on the PW50 the best I remember, so that is one thing you don't have to worry about

The carb mounting plate between the carb body and the manifold (has raised edges along the outside) becomes full of fuel. (Picture of carb attached) Cleaning the carbs is a pretty easy job, it just takes a little time to get the carbs out. You'll know right away if they are dirty (and that could also be why you might be losing revs). It could also be the petcock gasket. When those start to go bad it acts like a carb leak. Carb Leaking Gas. Jump to Latest Follow 1 - 18 of 18 Posts Filled up a squeezey bottle with fuel, ran fuel tubing to the nipple on the carb, and squeezed it....of course both bowls filled up, and the floats cut off the flow, and no overflow.... I unbolted the bowls, careful not to spill any fuel and checked the fuel level in the bowls. PERFECT The fuel line is connected to the fuel inlet of the carburetor, as it transports the fuel from the fuel tank into the carburetor. The fuel line is connected to the fuel inlet via a clamp. If the clamp comes loose you can sometimes see gas leaking out of the fuel line onto the carburetor Fuel pump was shot, the insulator/spacer was cracked, and the gaskets were gone. Replaced the fuel pump with a new one, new gaskets/spacer/insulator everything. Pulled the gas tank and cleaned it, put in new fuel lines and a new fuel filter. So, the carb is clean with a new float valve, new fuel pump, new everything that I can replace

Discussion Starter · #1 · Jan 9, 2011. Hello all, I have a mustang 200 inline 6 and i notice it is leaking a lot of fuel from the carburetor from two places. My friend said he cleaned out the carb and it was driving fine for about a month. Now it is leaking fuel and hestating. Any suggestion? I was thinking about purchasing a new 1100 vapor carb carb Rodney,the only thing i can think of is the fuel pump,i just cant imagine why two different carbs would leak.thats one problem that i have not heard of on here. did you buy the prowler with the carb leaking. how does it run. the only way it could be the fuel pump is that its pumping to much pressure,like someone put a high pressure pump on it.someone will chime in and help out. when i was. In the picture where the red arrow is, right where the threaded screw meets the carb body, POURS fuel out at an idle, and when the truck's engine was running above 2500 RPM it would hardly drip at all. It's also dripping on both sides of the carb, and you can wiggle it up and down 1/8, even when it's tightened down all the way It's leaking out of a hose next to the carb. It looks like a vent tube or an overflow of some kind. The hose is routed through the fake plastic cylinder cover and looks like it goes to the tank.
